Materials and preparation
Do I need five loaded slots?
Not for every recipe. A five-roll relief recipe can use four loaded positions with an operator-assisted exchange. Other palettes fit within the loaded positions. Check the recipe and print sheet.
How many rolls do I need?
Polychrome recommends five rolls. Four will print, but five gives a better result. A five-roll relief recipe can still run on a four-slot printer with one operator-assisted exchange.
Are colour layers the same as filament colours?
No. Eight colour layers means eight stacked printing layers in the colour region. Several different filaments can appear within a layer. It does not mean eight rolls are required.
Can I use filaments from another brand?
You can add rolls and calibrate them. Most current physical evidence is from Bambu filaments. Unmeasured rolls use estimates until you replace them with calibration.
Will the preview exactly match my print?
The preview depends on the material model and recipe. Calibration helps align the model with your rolls. Lighting, material variation and printing conditions also affect the appearance.
Which printers are supported?
Physical testing currently uses a Bambu X1C with an AMS. Other multi-material printers are unverified. Check compatibility.
Licences and selling
Can I sell what I make?
Commercial licences are planned for physical print sales and, separately, digital file sales. You also need rights to the source artwork. Final licence terms will be available before purchase. See Polychrome for sellers.
Do I need the Creator licence to sell prints?
No. The planned Commercial Prints licence covers physical products. Creator adds permission to sell generated digital files and to create a catalogue of printable designs.
Is there a subscription?
Personal use is planned as a one-time purchase. Commercial Prints and Creator are planned as annual licences. No recurring charge can be started on this preview.
What happens after I buy?
The personal licence is planned to provide continued use of the purchased version. The included update period and future upgrade options will be stated before purchase.
When can I buy it?
Release preparation is underway. Checkout and downloads will appear once the release checks are complete. See the planned licences.
